Expanded 2009 Editorial Calendar on Tap for Leisure Group Travel

Increased Regional Coverage, Stronger Focus on Niche & Affinity Travel, Plus Targeted Special Editions Help Advertisers Hone their Message to the Right Audience.

Leisure Group Travel has released its 2009 editorial calendar to trade and press professionals. The new calendar represents a substantial shift in how the magazine covers destinations and special interest topics.

Starting in February 2009, Leisure Group Travel will provide complete regional coverage of the United States and Canada four times per year. Each February, April, August and October the Northeast, South, Central and West will be covered editorially with a main destination story, niche or special interest travel article and new & noteworthy information from destinations, attractions, hotels and resorts throughout that region.

Additionally, two special editions will be produced in 2009. In June, the publishing company is featuring its 2nd Annual Group Itinerary Planner. In this edition, destinations, tour and receptive operators can advertise their trips ideas via full-page sample itineraries in the magazine. And in December, Leisure Group Travel features its popular Industry Forecast edition with an exciting new feature – a state-by-state analysis of What's New for 2010.

Spotlight on Niche & Special Interest Travel
Recognizing that the group market is growing in diversity and special interest, Leisure Group Travel has created the following Niche and Special Interest topics for 2009.
  • February: Religious Travel & Shopping Trips
  • April: Reunions & Theater Trips
  • June: Tour Itineraries & Rail and Cruise Trips
  • August: Girlfriend/Buddy Trips & Gaming Destinations
  • October: Active & Outdoor Travel & Culinary Vacations
  • December: Industry Forecast & What's New for 2010

Randy Mink, Leisure Group Travel's new managing editor, says, "Our expanded 2009 editorial calendar will give us a chance to cover every region of the country in every issue. Whereas we previously covered the Midwest in maybe two issues a year, now we will do so every issue. We also plan to have a regular section devoted to international travel, as we realize this is an ever-expanding component of a group's travel calendar."

Jeff Gayduk, publisher of Leisure Group Travel said, "One unique aspect of Leisure Group Travel is that it helps planners explore new destinations and topics that are relevant to their travel programs. This new calendar allows us to bring more of that information to them, more often and allow advertisers greater flexibility in honing their message to our audience."

Leisure Group Travel is the leading group travel publication in North America. With a distribution of 20,000 groups in print, and thousands more via the firm's online e-magazine, InSite, Leisure Group Travel reaches more planners from more sectors in more countries than any other magazine.
